Imagine gasoline or diesel at $11 a gallon, how would you change your behavior?

Well in remote Alaska Village Nikolski heating oil is trading at $11 per gallon and the community is in the midst of evaluating behavior and deciding what ones are no longer appropriate.  Alaska may be on the front lines of global warming, it is on another front line as well, energy economics. 

As all remote Alaska Villages struggle to survive by converting their entire energy production to local sustainable energy sources there are many lessons for the rest of America to learn as well as technologies to invest in.  Wind, Hydro, Lunar, Solar, and Geothermal are the primary sources that rural Alaska is exploring in order to sustain or grow their communities. 

While the lower 48 may not have the same challenges as remote Alaskan Villages, energy prices will impact behavior similarly and the solutions Alaska Villages find will also be the solutions for all Americans.
