Start thinking now about the 4th quarter

It is getting late in September and I am in the process of diagramming my top-down economic view of the world for the full purpose of rebalancing my portfolios for the fourth quarter and next twelve months.  The first thing is to write down all the current issues.

Domestic Issues

Congress fixing the “mortgage crisis”
Falling Dollar
Rising oil and commodity prices
Christmas sales
Changing interest rates
Employment
Mortgage defaults
How cold is winter
Energy supplies
Local elections and National campaigns

International Issues

Japan, Germany, Canada, Australia, and Mexico economies
Domestic demand growth in BRIC countries
Russia and Japan’s new Prime Ministers and their governments

From left field

Oil prices
Iran, Israel, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia
Bird Flu – virus outbreak
Natural causes – Indonesian earthquakes, freak hurricane, asteroids
