Solar Power theme for 2007

One of my themes for the year is solar power.  By far the cleanest of the clean, with the least negative impact on the environment, birds and other wildlife solar power stands head and shoulders above the other alternative energies.  Solar does have its issue and the shortage of basic materials is one of them.  With production of silicon not to have a significant increase until 2008 look for a muted implementation of the installed base.

Give Daystar Technologies, DSTI a look.  Their CIGS (silicon-free) cells gives them a unique production advantage until the raw silicon supply comes more in line with demand in 2008.  I just wonder if what growth rate of demand is being used to project production levels?  I think the silicon-free cells will maintain their advantaged in both cost and accessabitity of raw materials and its growth rate will not be incumbered as the silicon based PV cells.  (I have been building a position in at these low prices)

Evergreen Solar, ESLR.  Leader in thin film production, their scrooge like use of silicon and relationship with European interests means long-term success.  The decline in price for the second half of 2006 gives investors a great opportunity for an entry point.  (I do not have a position at this time, but have in the past and will in the future I am sure)

The solar market will continue to be dominated by the major players:  BP Solar, Shell Oil and Sharp.  Look for new entrants into the production field to improve process and efficiencies.

Many states have clean energy production requirements coming due in the next five years and construction of those production facilities needs to begin soon.  I like everything solar, it is like the begining of the PC era.

By-the-way

I have a venture idea in the solar power industry.  I think it is a Blockbuster and if you are a qualified investor or venture capital firm looking to make a name for yourself and me, give me a call.
